Large and diverse: this is the US electricity system! The Carbon Brief developed a very interesting and interactive map of the US. Thanks to their research, we learn how the country generates electricity for each state, county per county. The satellite map precisely shows sources and capacities. Unsurprisingly, the US is high on carbons with about 75% sourced in gas and coal. Here are some figures: New York state: 44.118MW, high carbon sourced with over 70% from gas. Texas: also high on carbon but map reveals 3rd electric source is wind!  Washington state: 31.826 MW with 80% from hydro! And among key messages: « Planned new power plants are almost exclusively gas, wind or solar. » Learn more here.
